Spiritual Nutrition Wedding
I never really dreamed about my wedding as a little girl so I had a wide open blank slate when the time came. When Matthew my husband proposed to me various ideas came but mainly getting married on a beach in Brasil a place we both love and adore. Second option was a beach wedding in Ibiza where we met - but for sure I wanted to get married on a beach.
However things happened in 2020 that changed everyones plans including ours. It became very clear that travel was out of the picture and without wanting to delay for long time it seemed like London would be the most practical place.
I NEVER imagined a city wedding, but I thought to myself how can I bring Spiritual Nutrition into this to make it magical. After all so many of Spiritual Nutrition is about intention to make even the most mundane material things feel magical.
The touches were simple but there. A bouquet filled with herbs as well as flowers. Herbs that had special meaning and used to be carried by brides - Lavender for Devotion, Rosemary for Remembrance, Sage for protection. And so I had a lovely meadowy bouquet with these herbs woven in.
My bridesmaid and I anointed ourself with essential oils on the morning of the day after meditating together. Meditation on the morning of the wedding day was the most essential foundation for the rest of the day to be pure Magic. As like with any special day when you put in love it feels other-wordly.
I stayed at the Mandrake Hotel the night before and of the wedding so had the Spiritual Concierge to hand, as well as getting some divine photos in the terrace garden and crystal mirror.
For my something blue I used lace agate crystal in my purse, something old was my 1920s vintage belt, something new were my pointed star pearl earrings.
Our short and sweet ceremony had readings from loved ones thrown in the mix and we were showered with dried rose petals, marigold and lavender as we excited the ceremony.
A few days before the weather forecast was 80% rain, but I kept visioning sun drenched photos - and the sun shone for the first time in so long that day for us.
So much of the day was about anchoring in visions, small rituals and prayers, creating with intention.
I’d also planned other dates around astrology and moon phases - the date we ended up getting married was basically one of the only days in September left at the registrary office - it was a ‘dark moon’ but it ended up being my personal new moon and the new moon and in some traditions ‘new year’ was the following day - another leap of trust and when I asked my astrologer she said there were actually a lot of positive aspects of us. Spiritual Nutrition is so much about divine trust in the bigger plan when things feel out of control and just surrender.
The best part was that I did also get my dream beach wedding in Ibiza. A friend who is a yoga teacher and celebrant who lives in Ibiza offered to facilitate a sacred ceremony for us over the ocean as the sun set. Due to all the wedding date changes this actually happened before our London ceremony (which I loved). It was just me and Matthew and the elements. We were saged and received a grounding sound healing before the ceremony and then shared our deepest intentions with each other as the sun hit the water. It was just perfect and I love this so fell into place with any planning at all.
