The Rise of Astrology-Based Therapy and Trauma-Informed Astrology
Astrology has long been a tool for self-reflection and guidance, but in recent years, it has found its place in therapeutic spaces. From the psychological insights of Carl Jung to modern figures like Dua Lipa openly embracing astrology for personal clarity, the intersection of astrology and mental health is gaining credibility and momentum.
I personally love the renaissance that Astrology is having. It’s coming out of the dark ages and hippy dippy pages and finally starting to be seen for the amazing spiritual and personal development tool that it is. Infusing astrology with more modern personal development tools like trauma informed therapy is giving it a whole new dimension. I’m excited to be one of the pioneers in working with my clients in both an astrology informed and trauma informed way.
Jung’s Influence: Astrology as a Psychological Tool
Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung was one of the earliest psychologists to integrate astrology into his work. Jung believed that astrology provided a symbolic language that could help decipher the unconscious mind. He saw the birth chart as a reflection of the psyche and used it as a diagnostic tool to understand personality, behavioral patterns, and emotional wounds.
Jung famously wrote:
“Astrology represents the sum of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity.”
His exploration of archetypes, synchronicity, and the collective unconscious aligns closely with astrological principles. Jung’s perspective laid the groundwork for astrology to be taken seriously as a tool for self-inquiry and healing.
One of the key points when discussing archetypes is that they have “mulitvalence” or a spectrum of how they can be expressed. If this is new to you, I cover it in my Astro Curious free masterclass here.
Trauma-Informed Astrology: Understanding the Wounds and the Wisdom
Trauma-informed astrology integrates astrological analysis with trauma-sensitive practices. This approach recognizes the profound impact of trauma on an individual’s psyche and utilizes the birth chart to identify potential areas of wounding and resilience. By understanding these astrological indicators, practitioners can offer more compassionate and effective support.
In this context, key astrological placements—such as Chiron (the “Wounded Healer”) and Pluto (transformation and rebirth)—can provide insight into an individual’s healing journey. Trauma-informed astrology helps people recognize their triggers, emotional patterns, and strengths, empowering them to navigate their healing process with greater self-awareness.

Astrology-Based Therapy: The Power of Transits in Navigating Life
One of the most powerful aspects of astrology-based therapy is its ability to help individuals navigate life’s transitions through planetary transits. Transits reflect the movement of planets in real-time and how they interact with an individual’s birth chart, often triggering personal growth, challenges, and breakthroughs.
Understanding transits can be incredibly helpful in identifying key moments for self-reflection, healing, and transformation. For example, a Saturn return often marks a period of deep restructuring, while Pluto transits bring about profound internal change. When individuals become aware of these cosmic cycles, they can work with them rather than against them, leading to more intentional and empowered decision-making.
Many turn to astrology-based therapy as a complementary practice to psychotherapy, especially when they feel traditional approaches do not fully resonate. Astrology offers a framework that acknowledges personal cycles, cosmic timing, and archetypal energies, helping clients navigate their mental health journey holistically.

Dua Lipa and the Modern Embrace of Astrology as Therapy
Dua Lipa has openly shared her deep connection with astrology, even preferring it over traditional therapy. On the Dish podcast, she revealed:
“Let’s put it this way. I don’t have a therapist. But I have an astrologist.”
She elaborated on how astrology has become a guiding tool in her life, especially when she needs clarity:
“I feel like I speak to my girl, Rosie, my astrologist, if like, I have a dilemma and I’m like, what’s this month saying?”
Initially, she only checked in on her birthday for a yearly forecast, but her connection to astrology has deepened over time:
“I used to just do them like yearly on my birthday, get like a rundown of the year. Now I go a little bit deeper. I’m hooked.”
Dua has also shared insights into her own astrological makeup, explaining how it shapes her personality:
“I’m a Leo, but I’m also a Libra Rising and Cancer Moon, so I’m emotional as f--- but then really tough, so don’t mess with me!”
For her, astrology is more than just a belief—it’s a framework for self-awareness and guidance, helping her navigate life in a way that feels deeply personal and intuitive.
The Future of Astrology in Personal and Spiritual Development
Astrology is such a powerful way to cut to what life is asking of us right now. It’s an incredible tool for therapists to guide them in their inquiries and equally invites a reflection point for clients. One of the most empowering things is simply that “this too shall pass”. Each transit is never for ever. Equally the fact that each archetype has a higher and more shadowy side shows us unlimited potential to grow and evolve. Both this points have been especially helpful as larger frameworks when clients are in deeper or more challenging transits.
