Meditation is about creating an intimacy with your Being
We are Human + Being
Most of us are very familiar with our human aspects, but not so much with our being, or having trouble integrating the two together.
Meditation in it’s purest form means to have a union, intimacy with your eternal self.
Many people in the west confuse mindfulness with meditation.
Meditation goes way beyond mindfulness. Meditation is more than watching thoughts or concentrating, and it’s not staying in the moment whilst running or surfing, it’s a lot deeper than that.
Mindfulness is a step in the process, it can be a really useful tool to help us come into the present moment and reduce stress.
However there are further steps you can take in meditation that allow you to develop a deep awareness of who you truly are.
It’s the most amazing journey and one we will all go on. It’s a long one, but as they say the sooner you start the better.
Ways to meditate
There are many techniques to meditate.
The Vigyan Bahian Tantra outlined 112, modern Masters like Osho created so many more.
But the most essential part is that you come a point of pure stillness, silence, sensitivity and receptivity.
It is only then that you’ll be able to perceive the presence of your being which is so subtle.
So techniques generally enhance our ability to relax but be very aware at the same time and have a multitude of benefits not just for our spirit, but our emotional, mental and energetic bodies.
For beginners I often recommend shaking or energetic pranayama to wake up the energetic system and let go of neurosis and things that have been bothering you and stored in the body.
The journey is endless
As we deepen our practice we begin to see that the journey inside is endless.
That the more time we spend in our inner space the more it opens up to us and merges with us.
As the journey deepens we generally peel back layer after layer of ego, until our witnessing Consciousness is stronger than the ego and we start to live from there and give our egos/identity direction.
We start to live life from a completely different perspective, we are more relaxed, things don’t bother us and we become more Conscious of our own existence and why we are here. Basically we learn to be free from our ego and desires pulling us here and there. This is the truest freedom, to be happy for no reason.
To be on the path of true meditation, is to learn how to die to the ego and awaken to the being and live from there.
For the experiences that I’ve had in this I credit my spiritual mentor Sakshin Bodhi and my Masters in India Sadguru Trivir.
For those starting out I’ve created a number of simple yet profound classes for you to start out easily at home.
Since different meditation types serve different people I offer a range of ways for you to delve into your own experience, by offering private sessions to help you find the best techniques for you and help you move through blocks, group classes if you’re in London, or my online meditation audios to top you up between sessions and help you create a daily meditation practice that will change your life.
