We’ve lost so much of the art of Wintering.
There can be so much wisdom living with the seasons. Winter can be used as a time for deep replenishment, sacred rest and inward time. Allowing us to re-emerge renewed and ready for a new cycle when Spring comes.
I know for me the winter months I don't feel like going out so much, but I CRAVE community and connection, and so I thought creating a wintering group would be the perfect antidote to that.
As an Australian, Wintering is not an art I’ve grown up with, rather something I’ve slowly remembered and learnt through living in London, tuning into my ancestors, my meditation and other spiritual practices.
I remember coming back to London for the Winter of 2019/20 and as the Spring emerged wondering “wow I feel such a rush of energy now, imagine if I’d really conserved my energy over the winter and could really take advantage of this rather than feeling burnt out”. I had felt so depleted during the colder months.
Of course this insight is nothing new - it’s ancient wisdom and very logical - yet somehow so lost in our modern society which is always go, go, go and more, more more..
Last Winter, I decided to change my approach. That I would try to learn how to lean into Winter rather than spending 3 months of hating and resisting it. In the Winter of 20/21 during lockdown, I decided to experiment with working with my energy, using different self care practices and simply took a different approach and outlook.
I sampled different technologies, read about how my ancestors likely got through this season and although it would be a far stretch to say I’m a winter person - I came out of the Winter in one piece lol!
As we approach Winter again I thought I’d start a beautiful Wintering group - where we can connect and “winter” together. As I mentioned above I don't always feel like going out, but I really do crave community and connection more then ever..
Along with restorative meditation, and yoga nidra practices, I’ll be sharing:
Winter nutrition.
Inner sunshine activations.
Winter Wisdom concepts, resources and recommendations.
Celebrate Winter Solstice, New Year and Imbolc.
We will have supportive bi-weekly calls (one call every 2 weeks) to connect with others and share winter wisdom or just be there for each other when we are feeling a bit ‘meh’.
This is a 3 month subscription to take us through December, January and February.
The Wintering Circles will be recorded and hosted with other practices in Teachable. We’ll also have a community group in Discord to chat and a place to have threads on different resources and topics.
Here’s a rough outline of what topics we’ll include during the calls:
3rd Jan - New year, space cleaning, working with "sankalpa" your personal affirmation and a new year yoga nidra.
17th Jan - Full moon reflections, contemplating the concept of Wei wu Wei
31st Jan - Imbolc sharing + New Moon Meditation
Feb 14th - Embodiment, Self Love & Moving Through Stagnation
Feb 28th - Inner technology - preparing for Spring
