The Power of Meditation, Acceptance, and Dark Nights of the Soul
The Dark & The Light - they go together. If you’re only working with the light and pushing away the dark, then you can never be whole.
There’ll always be something pushed away. It’s not even about trying to ‘change’ the dark. It’s accepting it. This acceptance is possibility one of the hardest steps. It’s the final step in the 8 Fold Path of Lord Buddha. But if you can manage this step. It’s the most powerful of all. It’s deep spirituality to be able to accept. Acceptance comes in many flavours. Often we need to accept we’re out of balance, in order to return to it. Balance is the principe of the 8 Fold Path. Buddha uses the word “samyak”. Which like so many eastern words, there is no english translation.
The nearest is right. In the sense that there is really only ever 1 right way, but many wrongs, but not even that. More like one health, many diseases. The one health being rooted in divinity and everything else being part of the maya that covers us from that. But of course everything in the world is in divine perfection. We need to experience separation to know and appreciate wholeness and oneness when it happens. We need to know darkness to see the light.
When we feel out of balance, that is then our cue, to get back into balance. That is what this year has felt like individually and collectively. Seeing the dark, the imbalance, accepting it, rather than denying it, and using it to come back to oneness. I think we’ve all had a lot come up to be cleared this year. I know I have. And that when I try to push that away, it never gets any easier… only worse. But when I’m able to face it, it dissolves somehow. It dissolves in the power of our Presence. The Presence of our Being.
That is why meditation is so important. It increases the potency of our Presence to hold and navigate the different flavours of life in the Samyak way…
